Absolutely Dreadful

Things went catastrophically wrong. It was a real fiasco. We tried to {compensate|handle the situation, but it was like trying to stop a flood with a cocktail stick. We're still picking up the debris and feeling the sting of this disaster.

Ultimately, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You wonder about the nature of it all. Was this intended to be funny?

Or were we just all part of a grand, cosmic prank?

A Disaster of Epic Proportions

The volcanic eruption struck without warning, destroying entire towns in its path. Buildings collapsed like sandcastles, and the screams that ensued was deafening. Thousands were left beneath wreckage, their fate unknown. The magnitude of the disaster was unprecedented, rendering survivors to confront a future forever scarred.

Dreadful Day Ever

It all started with a case of terrible hair. I couldn't figure it to look decent. As I was hurrying out the door, I stumbled and dropped my lunch all over the carpet. To make matters worse, I was totally running behind for work.

I arrived. My {boss|mentor|was absolutely furious. I managed to explain, but it was a complete disaster.

The rest of the day was just as bad. was a catastrophe. I couldn'tfocus.

By the time I reached my destination, I was utterly defeated. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as the worst day ever.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to scream into a pillow.
